Even though the inscription on the city’s coat of arms sounds quite martial (“No one provokes me with impunity”), Nancy has rarely acted aggressively. The capital of the Duchy of Lorraine has earned the nickname “Golden City” due to its civic mansions from various eras and its magnificent palaces. The three most famous squares – Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière, and Place d’Alliance – are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Despite this, the city, largely shaped by its student population, remains laid back, offering a relaxed glimpse into French lifestyle. Similarly easygoing is the Association Sportive Nancy Lorraine, shortened to AS Nancy, the local football club. Excluding occasional ventures into the top division, the team mostly resides in Ligue 2. Their high point was in 2006 when Nancy won the French League Cup. Today, Stade Marcel-Picot accommodates 20,000 spectators. The stadium also has a unique feature beneath its stands: our Rekortan PUR Indoor surface. The area below the stands, usually used for storage or parking, was repurposed by AS Nancy to install a sprint track utilized by the local football club for training. Polytan Rekortan PUR is a solid plastic surface that, thanks to its combination of an elastic base layer and solid construction, provides optimal indoor conditions for athletes. Maximum acceleration and excellent force reduction values are the result of these high-speed synthetic surfaces. Energy-boosting elasticity and high abrasion resistance complete this top-tier surface. This innovation has been well received: besides footballers, the track is used particularly in winter by local athletics clubs, organized under the umbrella association Nancy Athlétisme Métropole, including the affiliated clubs Saint Max Essey Club Athletic, Vandoeuvre Athlétisme, Nancy Athlétisme Club, Amicale Laïque de Neuves-Maisons, and Laxou Athlétisme. Naturally, we are delighted by such significant – quite literally – traction since Rekortan PUR Indoor is designed for high loads.
