At its core are the people who use our products: "Creating the perfect surface for sporting success" – this has been our motivation and standard since the company was founded. With its 50-year history, Polytan has become one of the global market leaders, continuously expanding its product range. It all started with synthetic surfaces – today, Polytan's portfolio includes high-speed running tracks, all-weather courts, tennis and safety surfaces, as well as artificial turf systems for football, hockey, rugby, and multi-functional playing fields.
Polytan surfaces have been exceeding the strictest environmental standards worldwide for years. They are durable, easy to maintain, resource-friendly, and allow users to pursue their passion all year round.

Whether artificial turf, tracks, or safety surfaces – Polytan sports surfaces are system solutions that fulfill a wide range of requirements through the specific combination of high-performance components. Our laboratories work every day to further optimize these components and synchronize them even more effectively. Polytan's Green Technology (GT) line is the result of years of research and development, aiming at resource and climate protection. It represents a new generation of advanced products and processes that combine state-of-the-art expertise from the plastics industry with the functional and ecological benefits of renewable raw materials and new resource-saving technologies.
We are working at full speed to expand our Green Technology product range – always with the ambition of ensuring that our products excel not only in sustainability but also in player health and performance.
For Polytan GmbH, sustainability has been an integral part of the corporate philosophy for many years. As a company in the plastics processing industry, we scrutinize ourselves especially critically on this topic. As a responsible all-in-one provider, we pay careful attention to the purposeful and conscientious use of resources in all phases of the lifecycle – from selecting raw materials to production, installation, use, maintenance, disposal, and recycling. Our ISO 140001-certified environmental management system since 2015 underscores this commitment.
Aligned with the EU Commission's Plastics and Bioeconomy Strategy, we are also intensively researching the usability of bio- and CO2-based plastics, which already complement our petroleum-based product portfolio meaningfully today and could even replace it step by step in the future.
We leave nothing to chance when it comes to producing our sports surfaces – we manufacture all our products ourselves. To ensure consistently high quality, the production process at Polytan begins with the formulation and production of the individual components. Only when the raw materials and compositions meet our precise specifications can we produce the premium products we have developed. A major goal is to enable production entirely through renewable energies. For example, our artificial turf production facility in Grefrath, Rhineland, has already been switched to green electricity.
State-of-the-art production facilities create high-quality system components with precisely defined properties, which are then combined into various products depending on the application. The result is sports surfaces with outstanding sports-physiological properties that provide you with an optimal user experience for many years.

The installation of sports surfaces requires specific expertise and a high degree of precision and experience. Only when all components are installed with absolute professionalism and accuracy can the surface exhibit its optimal sports-physiological properties.
This is why Polytan has its surfaces installed exclusively by employees specially trained for the respective processing methods – making us the world's largest installation operation.
Whether synthetic surfaces or artificial turf systems – all system components, including markings and lineation, are installed by our in-house specialists or certified partners. This ensures that the system configurations optimized in our development department are implemented at the required quality wherever you are in the world.

Artificial rugby turf pitches that meet the requirements of the rugby association World Rugby have been part of the portfolio of Polytan, a quality-conscious artificial turf manufacturer, for many years. During the development of rugby fields, care is taken to ensure they meet the specific requirements of the sport.
The Federal Association for Playground Equipment and Recreational Facility Manufacturers (BSFH) is an organization of manufacturers of equipment and facilities for playgrounds, parks, and recreational areas. As a BSFH member, Polytan holds the BSFH quality seal for all fall protection materials.
DFB PROJECT “1,000 MINI PITCHES”: We also provide all services related to the German Football Federation (DFB) mini pitches, an imitative to grow the game with the installation of 1,000 mini pitches around Germany. Many replacement parts can be found on the online shop of our partner Kübler Sport. And we still exclusively offer the original DFB mini pitch!
The InternationalHockey Federation (FIH) and Polytan have maintained a global partnership since 2004 withthe shared goal of promoting hockey and advancing the development ofsustainable sports facilities.
