LigaTurf RS+ for football and rugby in an airdome in Giżycko, Poland
The city of Giżycko (German: Lötzen) belongs to the Polish administrative district of Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship by Lake Niegocin. With just under 30,000 inhabitants, the city is an important tourist destination in Poland due to its many water sports opportunities. The "White Fleet," based in the Ekomarina harbor, operates on the Great Masurian Lakes, and numerous sailing and houseboat captains navigate the Masurian Lake District from here. Sports also play an important role in Giżycko beyond the water: To ensure football can be played even in adverse weather conditions, an airdome was erected by Polytan’s partner Panorama Obiekty Sportowe, a company specializing in the planning and construction of sports facilities in the Polish market. The 115 x 74 m hall spans the playing field beneath it and consists of two layers with air pumped in between. This creates very pleasant conditions for sports and protects athletes from cold temperatures, as well as from rain and snow. The hall is part of a sports complex that serves as an Olympic training center. Our surface Polytan LigaTurf RS+, cherished by both professional and amateur athletes alike, was installed there. The highly durable turf system proved its excellence for the first time as the players' preferred surface during the Women’s World Cup in Canada. The turf fibers meet all high standards for shock absorption, ball roll, and ball bounce over an extended playing period. The Giżycko field is not only the first artificial turf football field in an airdome in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship but also only the second in Poland to have dual certification for football and rugby, recognized by FIFA and World Rugby. As a field with this dual certification in an inflatable hall, it is unique in all of Europe. To meet the requirements of the two international organizations, the length of the artificial turf filaments had to be precisely 60 mm. The 105 x 68 m playing field can be divided into four sectors of 26 x 68 m each, separated by nets, and is primarily intended for training purposes.
