Fall-protection surfaces: Optimal safety for playgrounds

The highest priority on playgrounds is the safety of children. To reliably protect them from severe injuries, shock-absorbing fall-protection surfaces are mandatory under playground equipment like swings and climbing towers – the legal requirements for this are regulated in the DIN EN 1177. The selection for playground fall protection is diverse – ranging from loose fill materials like sand and wood chips to rubber tiles and seamlessly installed synthetic surfaces. Syntheticfall-protectionsurfaces are not only suitable for playgrounds and kindergartens; they are alsoused at amusementparks, senior facilities, andrehabilitation centresdue to their protective properties. The thickness of the surface depends on thespecific application and fall height. Especially in outdoor areas, fall-protection surfacesmust be weather-resistant and durable. Polytan fall-protection surfaces retain their optimalcushioning propertieseven when wet. Their water permeability ensures that the surfaces dry quicklyafter rain. Maintaining synthetic surfaces is straightforward: intensivecleaning is only required every two to three years. Polytan fall-protection surfacesare HIC-tested according to DIN EN 1177 and ASTM F1292-09 (Sports Standards andRecreation Standards) and are also RAL-certified.
