Since the Olympic Gamesin 1968, all major athletics events worldwide have been held exclusively on synthetic running tracks, commonly referred to as “tartan tracks.” However, Tartan is not a generic term for the surface itself, but a brand name that has become widely used in everyday language. From the very beginning, Rekortan has been one of the leading track surface systems in high-performance athletics. Today, more than half of all Diamond League stadiums feature advanced polymeric surface systems from Polytan or Rekortan. Their popularity is due to their outstanding performance characteristics, such as maximum acceleration, optimum force reduction, and long-term resilience.Polytan offers a range of PU-based synthetic surfaces for athletics facilities, available in both water-impermeable full-pour systems and water-permeable textured systems, including sandwich constructions.
