The “Académie Mohammed VI de Football” in Sala al Jadida, Morocco, was opened in March 2010 by King Mohammed VI and has since provided sports coaching and schooling for the region’s top-class footballers. Mohcine Benyacoub, General Secretary of the Academy, is certain that the right decision has been taken: “We are extremely satisfied with the collaboration and of course with the result. Polytan LigaTurf RS+ 240 is also the best solution in these climatic conditions. Unlike natural grass, the football turf does not dry out and maintenance costs are significantly lower. Classed as an elite stadium by UEFA, the Stade de Suisse is the second-biggest stadium in Switzerland and the home ground of BCS Young Boys. In 2006, the natural grass pitch in the Berne stadium was replaced by Polytan LigaTurf. In mid-2010, after more than 8,000 hours of intensive use, the turf was exchanged for the Polytan Ligaturf RS+ CoolPlus football pitch; not only is this the optimum surface on which to play attractive football matches, it is also sufficiently robust to survive major events unscathed. The multipurpose arena has since been used to stage concerts by some big names in music, including Genesis, Pink, Muse, Bon Jovi and Robbie Williams.

The Polytan LigaTurf training ground of Borussia Mönchengladbach has been put through its paces every year since 2005 – and has passed with flying colours: in 2011 the pitch was awarded “FIFA Recommended 2 Star” certification for the seventh year in succession. This success shows that Polytan football turf offers outstanding conditions for training as well as national and international football competitions. “We’re still very impressed with the product we opted for. Located in Toronto, Saint Andrew's College is one of Canada's premier institutions. The next phase of this project consists of the installation of a Polytan running track to encircle the field.

The construction of the indoor athletics arena in Hamburg was completed in 2006. The building project was planned and supervised by architects Markovic, Ronai, Lütjen and Voss. Originally conceived as a training arena, it is regularly used for competitions as well, the German indoor athletics championships in January 2009 being one example. Extending over a surface area of 6,500 square metres within the arena, the surfaces covered with Polytan M included a 200m circular track with four lanes, a 60m section with eight lanes and a long, straight sprinting track outside the circular track.

Early in 2011 Polytan installed nearly 25,000 m² of track surface – roughly the equivalent of 3.5 football pitches – at Shenzhen Sports Centre, China, for the Summer Universiade 2011 held in Shenzhen. The in-situ method was used to lay the Polytan M track surface both in the main stadium and on all the training tracks. Not only is Polytan M a very fast surface, it also offers high shock absorption, making it the ideal track surface for peak athletes as far as sports medicine is concerned. The installation of the seamlessly coated, water-impermeable surface with IAAF Class 1 certification was Polytan’s biggest running track project in China to date.

FC Bayern Munich has opted for Polytan to install a training pitch for the third time already. The stars and youth teams of FC Bayern Munich were able to resume training on a large synthetic pitch in August 2011 – the new ground in Säbener Strasse having been equipped with Polytan LigaTurf RS+, a premium football turf. Furthermore, both the turf and the granules are based on Polytan CoolPlus technology, which ensures that the surface temperature of the turf remains consistently low in sunlight. But provision has also been made for the cold winter months: the installation of undersoil heating means that training conditions are perfect even when temperatures dip below zero.

“Such a turf guarantees the optimal conditions for perfect ball handling. The quality of play gains in every respect. Not only that, but synthetic turf is much less expensive to maintain than a traditional field and has a much longer life.”
Another advantage is that the turf copes with professional matches even in heavy rain. It goes without saying that the football turf in the Stade de Moustoir has received FIFA Recommended 2 Star certification. Further information on FC Lorient: www.fclweb.fr/

Teams at the training centre of FC Schalke 04 have been holding their training sessions on Polytan football turf since 2009. The club is very satisfied with the turf according to Rainer Hester, the Schalke 04 groundsman:
“Our players and trainers have praised the playability of the LigaTurf 240 RS+ very highly, because the upright stalks make it feel very like natural turf.”
A special feature of the turf is the middle of the centre circle: the spot is marked by a Schalke 04 crest, which Polytan worked into the stalks at the special request of the club. Further information on FC Schalke 04 at: www.schalke04.de
