History
1969
Firl + Schretter Sportstättenbau OHG in Neuburg an der Donau is founded. It concentrates initially on the installation of polyurethane-bound synthetic surfaces for sports facilities. “Polytan” becomes a registered trademark.
1975 – 1985
The range of products is expanded to incorporate the production of raw materials for polyurethane-bound synthetic surfaces. This enables Polytan to strengthen its market position in Germany. Its stock-in-trade is sales, production and installation from a single source.
1995
Polytan expands its operations with the newly acquired production facilities for synthetic turf and polyurethane in Grefrath (NRW) and sets up Polytex GmbH as a wholly owned subsidiary.
1990 – 1999
Polytan is able to increase its export business considerably and sets up subsidiaries in Great Britain and China.
2003 – 2006
Implementation of fully vertical production of synthetic turf products. A complete coating and extrusion plant for synthetic turf is installed in Grefrath for this purpose. The one-stop-shop philosophy guarantees high-quality products and installation for synthetic turf systems. Participation as a licensee in the FIFA Quality Concept for Football Turf and first FIFA Recommended 2 Star pitch worldwide.
2007
As a result of the targeted takeover of companies, Polytan continues to grow in Europe and in the North American market in particular.
2008/2009
Polytan steadily strengthens its leading position in Europe in terms of the market share and quality of its sports surfacing systems. Polytan also becomes a partner of the DFB in the biggest synthetic turf project worldwide (EUR 25 million investment): 1,000 mini pitches in Germany.
2011
Polytan again breaks the world record for FIFA-certified synthetic turf pitches and becomes a FIFA Preferred Producer under the collective brand name of “Polytan|STI”.
